Her story

Archana is the Chief General Counsel at Gallagher Bassett.

Without mentioning your job title, how would you describe what it is you do now (whether at home, work, in the community, etc.)?

I build strong relationships with others so that they feel comfortable to seek my help with their problems.

What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?

The three words that come to mind are variety, inclusion and differences.

What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?

In my view, this will involve the legal industry being truly open and inclusive to people from various racial, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and also various lifestyles and experiences. For instance, the diversity of law graduates is not represented in senior legal positions, such as law firm partners and GCs of companies.

What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?

My main driver was (and still is) a desire to help others.
