Her story

Alyce is the Managing Partner at Urban Legal.

Without mentioning your job title, how would you describe what it is you do now (whether at home, work, in the community, etc.)?

I help people navigate complex planning and environmental systems to unlock good development. I work closely with communities, councils, and developers to solve problems, build trust, and move projects forward with clarity and purpose.

What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?

Perspective, inclusion, opportunity.

What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?

We need to value different life experiences as much as technical expertise. That means rethinking recruitment, mentoring diverse talent, and creating spaces where all voices are genuinely heard and considered.

What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?

I was drawn to the idea of using the law and practical strategies to solve real-world problems - and to make complex systems work better for people. It offered the perfect mix of challenge, impact, and the chance to keep learning!

Contribute to the rich tapestry of women in Australian law

This campaign is not just a reflection of the past; it's an invitation to join the celebration of women in law. We invite you to nominate other women within the legal industry to share their stories, anecdotes, and tributes. Together, let's honour their legacy and inspire future generations.
