Her story

Lydia is a Partner at McCullough Robertson Lawyers.

Without mentioning your job title, how would you describe what it is you do now (whether at home, work, in the community, etc.)?

Human Problem Solver.  Giving people the time and confidence to make strategic decisions for their organisation, knowing they have considered the risks and available options.

What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?

Respect, Diverse, Adaptive.

What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?

A willingness at all levels to continually listen and reflect on the status quo.  Being proactive in driving positive change and having consistency of decision making.  Not only in response to specific individual situations that are obviously unfair or discriminatory but in our ways of operating and the structures set up within our organisations.

What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?

To prove for myself that a great lawyer does not have to fit within the traditional male lawyer stereotype.  Ultimately, to help people.

Contribute to the rich tapestry of women in Australian law

This campaign is not just a reflection of the past; it's an invitation to join the celebration of women in law. We invite you to nominate other women within the legal industry to share their stories, anecdotes, and tributes. Together, let's honour their legacy and inspire future generations.
