What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?
Perspectives, inclusion, opportunities.
What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?
We need to break down traditional models of career progression and leadership within law firms which are typically linear and hierarchical, and don't encourage diverse views to be applied to problem solving. Encouraging greater participation from all levels and perspectives will foster greater diversity of thinking.
What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?
I was good with words at school (maths, not so much!) and love problem solving and structuring arguments. Combined with a passion for social justice and fighting the underdog, the law was an obvious choice for me, and I never truly considered any other career, even from being in junior school.
