General Counsel, Chief Risk Officer and Company Secretary
Cambooya Pty Ltd
Amy is General Counsel, Chief Risk Officer and Company Secretary at Cambooya Pty Ltd.
I provide strategic and commercial advice and manage legal matters for our organisation. I also oversee the integrity of our organisation, while managing and mitigating risks to protect the interests and assets or our organisation and the people whom we serve. Additionally, I ensure robust corporate governance by keeping our board of directors and executive team well-informed and compliant with statutory obligations.
What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?
Representation, equity and inclusion.
What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?
We need more diversity of thought, experience and culture at the leadership level, with leaders who genuinely champion for diversity and inclusion. Remuneration structure may need to be revisited to prioritise diversity.
What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?
First and foremost, I wanted to contribute to the legal profession with a different viewpoint and cultural/life experience. I am motivated to encourage young women of diverse background to pursue law, and to foster diverse representation at the leadership level within the legal profession. With my background in law and commerce, I have a particular interest in navigating the law in a commercial and pragmatic manner, providing legal advice that not only complies with regulations but also aligns with business objectives and growth strategies. I love being part of the growth and development of an organisation, playing a role in their success and contributing to their long-term sustainability and role as good corporate citizens.
