Her story

Jessica is a Partner at McCullough Robertson Lawyers.

Without mentioning your job title, how would you describe what it is you do now (whether at home, work, in the community, etc.)?

I help individual, corporate and government clients resolve disputes, both in and out of court.

What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?

Inclusive, representative and necessary.

What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?

I have already seen a lot of change in the time that I have been in the legal profession.  As an example, more and more female graduates are entering our firm year on year.  However, the difficulty is encouraging junior female lawyers to stay in the profession, particularly in private practice.  I think it will take more women and people of diverse backgrounds being in positions of leadership in the legal industry to develop truly diverse thinking from the top down.

What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?

I knew that I wanted to be a litigation and dispute resolution lawyer before I finished my law degree because I found court proceedings challenging and interesting.  Once I started working in the legal industry, I wanted to help people to resolve disputes at an early stage, wherever possible.

Contribute to the rich tapestry of women in Australian law

This campaign is not just a reflection of the past; it's an invitation to join the celebration of women in law. We invite you to nominate other women within the legal industry to share their stories, anecdotes, and tributes. Together, let's honour their legacy and inspire future generations.
