General Counsel and Company Secretary
Real Estate Institute of Queensland
Katrina is a General Counsel and Company Secretary at Real Estate Institute of Queensland.
I aim to educate, advocate and provide support to our constituents and members of community who require information and support to navigate through legislative change. Outside of law, I support and serve an amazing team who offer children with autism an opportunity to receive education where mainstream schools cannot support them.
What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?
Choice, Perspective and Understanding.
What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?
By expanding access to enter the legal industry and identify how we can actively remove barriers for individuals (e.g. socioeconomic background, geography, race). It is my view that diverse thinking thrives when people from different walks of life are given the chance to contribute their unique perspectives.
What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?
I entered the legal industry because I believe that access to clear, reliable information is essential for people to make informed decisions, especially when navigating legal issues that are not common knowledge. Too often, consumers face situations where they feel overwhelmed or uncertain about their rights, options, or next steps. I wanted to be the support and a trusted resource.
