Managing Director
WGC Lawyers
Rhiannon is the Managing Director at WGC Lawyers.
I guide and support a talented team of legal professionals at a law practice in Cairns. I focus on ensuring the smooth operation of the firm, fostering a collaborative environment where everyone can thrive, and ultimately, making sure we deliver the best possible service and outcomes for our clients.
What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?
Inclusion, strength, experience
What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?
This requires a focused effort on broadening the talent pipeline, fostering genuinely inclusive environments, and actively promoting diverse leadership. This means looking beyond traditional recruitment, cultivating workplaces where individuals from all backgrounds feel valued and heard, and intentionally creating pathways for all lawyers, including women, to rise into leadership positions. Ultimately, it's about moving beyond simply having diverse representation to actively valuing and integrating a variety of perspectives in all aspects of our industry.
What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?
Entering the profession in the midst of my degree (which I began as soon as I completed high school), I was drawn to the structured thinking and analytical skills that a legal education provides. As I have gained experience, my driver has evolved to encompass a passion for ongoing learning, client service and strong and effective leadership.
