Her story

Sarah is a Partner at McCullough Robertson

Without mentioning your job title, how would you describe what it is you do now (whether at home, work, in the community, etc.)?

I help deliver essential community infrastructure by supporting government, developers and site operators to negotiate agreements and navigate regulatory compliance.

What are the first three words you think of when you hear the word ‘diversity’?

Difference, respect and interest.

What do you think it will take to develop truly diverse thinking within the legal industry?

The legal profession has come a long way in embracing diverse thinking.  I am fortunate to see a range of different industries in my work, and there is a far greater participation rate of women in law than other areas such as engineering and manufacturing.  The diversity of the legal industry is a function of university graduates and opportunities for lawyers throughout their career journey, and so we need to continue to invest and support people with varied backgrounds to succeed in their career.

What was your main driver to enter the legal industry?

I wanted a career that was meaningful and intellectually challenging. The law delivers that in spades. I enjoy learning about my clients' industries and helping them navigate challenges to achieve their goals.

Contribute to the rich tapestry of women in Australian law

This campaign is not just a reflection of the past; it's an invitation to join the celebration of women in law. We invite you to nominate other women within the legal industry to share their stories, anecdotes, and tributes. Together, let's honour their legacy and inspire future generations.
